Our next road trip will be at the end of May 2017!!! Here is some information that I found.
The short and easy hikes.
Top 10 things to do in Utah.
Our next road trip in 2017!!! Solvang, CA in Santa Ynez Valley. This Dutch community offers many activities for the whole family. There are five-star Scandinavian restaurants. Wine/cheese tasting, traditional Danish bakeries.
There are hotels and bed and breakfast homes to stay in. This community has been here for over 100 years!!!
You can request a guide by going to their website http://www.solvangusa.com. It’s free!!!
In September 2016 we stayed two nights in Big Bear, CA. We had rented a cabin from “Cabins 4 Less.” These cabins were clean and well stocked. Check out their website http://www.bigbearcabins4less.com. These cabins have basic items for you to use. In the bathroom and in the kitchen (pots, toilet paper, soap, mugs). They are heated and they have hot water!! You just need to bring your sheets and blankets. They are also pet friendly. Its only $9.00 for your pet to stay with you. If you leave the place clean there is no cleaning fee.
During the day, the air was brisk and in the evening it dipped down to less than 37 degrees. It was cold!!! Bring extra blankets and jackets you are going to use them.
During our stay in Big Bear, Ca.We forgot a few things.
Tea, Hot beverage container, Space heater, Paper Towels, Kitchen Sponge.
During our Big Bear trip, we came across Whiskey Dave’s. This restaurant is in the local town. We went there for an early dinner and spirits. They have daily drink specials. The food was excellent and the service was great!
For now we will keep our trips to Southern California. I would like to find a cabin in the local mountains to stay a couple of nights. Any Ideas on a So-Cal location for a Cabin rental?
The mini-van. We are calling her “Blue Magic!!” We have gone camping twice and taken a couple of trips to the mountains in this car.
We decided on this van because you can take out the back seats and fold down the second-row seats. This will leave a full-size mattress space. Great to fit two adults and one doggie perfectly. It also has a few outlets to run a heater or a laptop for movies. With the mini-van being capable of towing 3500 lbs. we are looking for a light-weight trailer to tow. We are also looking into an R.V.but for right now we love our mini-van.
So if you are looking to go on a short road trip a mini-van is the right car to use.
We are looking into a winter trip. If you have any recommendations in the Southern California area, please let me know.
Our first camp out ever!!! We went to Sweetwater Summit Regional Park with the Welsh family. Two nights in a tent on a leaking air mattress!! On the first night, the mattress sprung a leak and we woke up on the ground. What a night.
While in San Diego, we went to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park.
